Dark Kitchen and Cafe Automation in Georgia: What Actually Works

Usually, a restaurant owner has to juggle everything at once: the kitchen, the dining area, the warehouse, and the cash register. Automation won't do the work for you, but it will bring order to the kitchen and provide accurate numbers: how much stock is left, where unnecessary expenses occur, and how much the venue actually earned during the shift.

At METI, we do this in practice, not just in theory. Here is what we’ve learned from working with real businesses in Kutaisi, Gardabani, and on the Black Sea coast.

Where Businesses Lose Money Without a System

We constantly see three main problems in venues that lack automation:

What Changes with RestaurantOS

RestaurantOS is a cloud-based POS system that we developed ourselves at METI. It runs through a standard browser on any tablet or smartphone, so you don't need to spend money on expensive specialized hardware. We simply configure it to fit the needs of your specific venue.

Real Case Study: Tehle in Gardabani

The Tehle restaurant in the Gardabani district serves a Turkic-speaking audience. It is a venue with a true country flavor, featuring a spacious indoor hall, a large green terrace, and its own livestock facilities. This is exactly where RestaurantOS was tested in real, battlefield conditions.

This project showed us exactly which features worked perfectly and which needed refinement. Printing service tickets in different languages, automatically splitting orders between the main kitchen, the grill, or the tea area, and tracking seating capacities across dining rooms and the summer terrace—all of these features grew out of real business pain points, not theory.

The Specifics of Dark Kitchens

Establishments without a dining room don't have tables or waiters, so specific challenges are added to the general tasks of inventory and cash control:

RestaurantOS has a built-in module for delivery. We set up online payment connections and integration with automated order reception tools individually for each project because every dark kitchen has its own workflow logic.

Cost and Geography of Work

The cost of automation always depends on the scale: how many printing stations you have, whether you need complex integrations, and how many employees need training. We don't have a cookie-cutter price list simply because no two venues are identical.

Our main office is located in Kutaisi, but we personally travel to set up equipment and train staff in Tbilisi, Batumi, and all across Georgia.
